Taking the 7 Seconds song “Not Just Boys Fun” literally, these girls want to provide a voice, not just for a generation, but with a female’s outlook and perception. This clockwork group of gals play Punk & Oi! influenced by bands like The Business, The Oppressed, Blitz and Cock Sparrer.
In 2014, their Self Titled EP was produced by Arik Victor (Kill your Idols/ The Casualties) A split 7 inch with Scotland’s own External Menace followed in 2015. A recent split 7 inch / CD with UK punk legends, Vice Squad was released in 2017 on Rebel Sound and Violated Records. The Droogetts full length album “Clockwork Girls” on Violated Records, a subdivision of Creep Records, was released in July and has been getting stellar reviews from Punknews.org and The Punk Lounge.
The Droogettes have shared the stage with some great punk hierarchy so far, with support slots for bands such as: The Adolescents, The Adicts, D.I., The Business, The Dickies, Infa Riot, Booze & Glory, The Vibrators and Slaughter & The Dogs. They have played internationally at England’s largest DIY punk fest Rebellion 2 years in a row. In 2018 they played the Montreal Oi Fest which was headlined by Bonecrusher and The Last Resort.
The Droogettes are out to prove they can rock as well as their male peers.
Recently they were listed under the editors pick for www.punknews.org of bands to watch out for in 2018.
“The Droogettes will kick your ass. This band takes the sing-songy coat of oi! and drapes it over a rough and tumble ’77 punk attack. And more than that, beneath football style chants, there’s often deep meaning at the foundation- for instance, they have a song that explores the concept of what makes someone commit violent acts… it’s just that the tune is so catchy you rarely have enough time to catch a breath and think about. Having finalized their lineup, they’ve been in the studio finishing their debut LP, and if their stomping split with Vice Squad was any inclination, this LP will be classic and fresh at the same time.” -John Gentile
